John Heggie

John Heggie is a dedicated public servant, not only to his country, but to his community.  John served in the United States military as a member of the Army. John also served in the National Guard. While earning his law degree, John was active with the Veteran’s Clinic at University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, counseling veterans and their families with issues involving real property and estate planning.

In the spring of 2015, the voters in Glenview elected John to serve his first term on District 34’s Board of Education. John served as the Board’s Vice-President during his second term which concluded in the spring of 2023.

John’s legal background is enhanced by his engineering degree and risk management work. When he advises individuals, families, and business owners, John understands that there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach.  His experience in estate planning, probate, and business formation allows him to provide tailored advice. Every family, individual, and family business has its own unique set of circumstances and John knows it.

To John, estate planning is about real people.  He has a passion for crafting a tailored plan that best suits the clients’ needs for today and tomorrow. His deep experience in both corporate law and family held businesses comes from his own background as a small business owner, his deep insurance experience, and his love of the law. John has been selected as an Illinois Super Lawyer based on factors including peer recognition and professional achievement.  John has previously been recognized as an Illinois Rising Star.

John is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Trust and Estate Council and the North Suburban Bar Association.  John has supported women in law, most notably as a member of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI) during his wife Corinne’s tenure as WBAI president in 2019-2020.

John believes strongly in community engagement. In addition to his school board work, John, an Eagle Scout, is the Cubmaster and Executive Committee Chair for Cub Scout Pack 156. John coached youth sports for years through Glenview Youth Baseball and Glenview Park District. On Sundays in the fall, John’s voice can be heard announcing Glenview Junior Titan Football games.  John is active in ministries that support women and children in crisis through Our Lady of Perpetual Help.  John and his wife, Judge Corinne Heggie, live in Glenview where they are raising their three sons.
